Japanese Breakfast added to the Momentary lineup

The folks at the Momentary continue to add to their live music lineup this year.

The contemporary art venue recently announced that Grammy-nominated indie pop artist Japanese Breakfast will perform in the outdoor performance space on Sept. 17.

The band is a project by musician, director, and author Michelle Zauner, who released her third studio album Jubilee on Dead Oceans last year. The album was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album and the band was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy’s last year.

From the artist’s bio about the acclaimed 2021 album:

From the moment she began writing her new album, Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner knew that she wanted to call it Jubilee. After all, a jubilee is a celebration of the passage of time—a festival to usher in the hope of a new era in brilliant technicolor. Zauner’s first two albums garnered acclaim for the way they grappled with anguish; Psychopomp was written as her mother underwent cancer treatment, while Soft Sounds From Another Planet took the grief she held from her mother‘s death and used it as a conduit to explore the cosmos. Now, at the start of a new decade, Japanese Breakfast is ready to fight for happiness, an all-too-scarce resource in our seemingly crumbling world.

2021 also saw the release of Zauner’s New York Times Best Selling memoir, Crying in H Mar, which she is also adapting as a film for MGM’s Orion Pictures.

Tickets to her performance in NWA are $36 for the public, and $29 for Momentary members. $15 student tickets are also available.
