The Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association has named Fayetteville’s Centennial Park its 2022 Outdoor Facility of the Year.

Officials announced the award at the association’s annual conference last week in Little Rock.

The 228-acre cycling-focused park includes cyclocross and mountain biking amenities that were purpose-built for world class events, but are available for free to residents.

The park features two trailheads, a pavilion with restrooms, and over 14 miles of soft-surface trails for all skill levels of mountain biking, cyclocross riding, trail running, youth cross country running and hiking.

Centennial Park hosted the 2022 Cyclocross World Championships, which was only the second time the United States has ever hosted the 72-year event. The park also hosted the 2021 Cyclocross World Cup, the USA Cycling Pro Cup Mountain Bike Series, and several other state and national-level races. The park will host yet another World Cup cyclocross event in October.

“Centennial Park is a tremendous asset to the city of Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas cycling community,” said Alison Jumper, the city’s director of Parks, Natural Resources and Cultural Affairs. “Along with expanding Fayetteville’s cycling infrastructure, it is a unique attraction that boosts tourism and further improves quality of life for residents.”
